Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht
PART MODELLING OF YACHT , ASSEMBLY AND PHOTO - REALISTIC RENDERING OF THE YACHT:
AIM
To model the sunseeker predator yacht using SolidWorks Software.
OBJECTIVE:
- Modelling of all the parts of yacht and assemble the same.
- Learn how to setup the blueprints for modelling of parts.
- Understand the concepts of surface modelling and solid modelling in part model
INTRODUCTION: Hello all, Myself I am M Goverdhan Rao. In this project we will discuss the modelling of sunseeker predator yacht using both surface modelling commands and solid
modelling commands.Blue prints of yacht are used to modelling the entire yacht by using surface modelling commands and solid modelling commands.
What is Yacht?
Basically Yacht is a medium sized boat used for sailing and racing purpose.
BASIC COMPONENTS OF YACHT:
- Hull
- Super Structure
- Radar
- Radar Mast
- Propeller

BLUE PRINT SETUP:
In this project I have used blueprints for solid modelling and surface modelling of yacht. The blueprints are used as an reference only, accuracy of skecthing may slightly differ from the
blueprints.
The blueprints is shown below:

COMPONENTS OF YACHT:
1. RADAR:
Radar is used to as a navigation tool in yacht, ships and cruise etc. It is used to detect the weather, and as well for navigation.

Design Method:
- Skectching with required dimensions are done and given height by using the extruded boss/base
- Fillet Feature is used to give appropriate smoothig for the ends.
- For positioning the radar on radar mast we should give a space and which is done by using extruded cut.
- Half section of radar is created and other half is done by using Mirror Feature.
- Split line command is used to give desired text on radar.
2.PROPELLR:
Propeller is a rotating body outside the yacht which is responsible for moving yacht.

Design Method:
- Skectching with required dimensions are given for base body and revolve command is used .
- Reference skecthes and planes are used to create blades of propeller.
- Loft command is used to make the blades by specifing the profiles.
- Fillet is used to give smoothness for the blades.
- Now circular pattern is used to pattern blades.
3.HULL
Components Of Hull:
- Railings
- Anchor: It is a heavy object which prevents the yacht to move when parked
- Stern:Back of yacht hull.
- Bow : Front part of hull on which we can walk.
Hull is the main body of yacht which floats on water It has space for seating and also where we walk around.

Design Method:
- Open the blueprint setup as we discussed earlier and skecthing is done in two different planes to create a base for the hull.
- Project curve is done by using the above skecthes .
- Now the lofted command is used to create the surface of hull.
- Trim Surfaces are used to remove unwanted surfaces.
- Knit Surafce is used to combine the rest by specifying the gap control.
- The railings are done by using the swept command.
- The cuts in the below part of hull is done by extruded cut
- The rope/cables in anchor are done by using helix/spiral command.
- The staircase is done by used the extruded bose.
4.FRONT SEAT

5 MIDDLE SEAT

6.REAR SEAT

7.SUPER STRUCTURE:
Super Structure is also an extension of hull where radar and radar mast are placed.Super structure serves as the work station for the technical staff.

Design Method:
- With help of the blueprints the basic skecthes are drawn.
- Then the curves are generated by using the project curve.
- By using the curves , surfaces are created by using curves with the help of extrude surface, ruled surface, extend surface, lofted surface, swept surface features.
- Now the surface body is converted into solid body by usinf knit surafaces features.
- As the super structure is symmetric we have made only half of the body and other is done by using mirror comand.
