Project - Speed Control of a Direct Current (DC) motor

1.

w(s)/

- The integrator block outputs the value of the integral of its input signal with respect to time.

- The gain block multiplies the input by a constant value.

- The sum block is used for addition.

- The clock block provides a simulation time.

- The scope block shows a strip chart/graph.

- The workspace block logs a data connected to its input ports to a workspace from a simulink model.

- The transfer function block modifies the input signal and outputs the new signal on a line to the scope.

- The overshoot = 158

- The settling time = 1.7

- The steady state error = 1.5

- The undershoot = 133

- Here the values of P = 16260.522

I = 61732.632

D = 991.581

- It has less rise time and settling time but a high overshoot.

- The PID block provides a fast and widely applicable single loop PID tuning methodfor the simulink.

- Now For maintaing the stabilty of a dynamic system :

- Out put results:

- Case : 1 When maintaining a desired speed of the motor at 100 :

- Case : 2 When maintaining a desired speed of the motor at 230v :

- Here by observing the above two graphs we change the desired speed as 100 in the case1 and 230 in the case 2

- But here both the plots reamains same

- So by this we can say that we maintained desired speed of a DC motor

- Conclusion:

we have desined in this project a Simulink model for the DC motor as shown in Figure 1.and also we Use the Proportional Integral and Derivative PID control design knowledge gained in the training to design develop and test a controller to maintain a desired speed for the motor
