Project 1 - Loss calculation for a DC/DC converter-MATLAB

- Given - :

Vin = 100V

Vout = 200V

L = 200mH

C = 400uF

R = 10V

RL = 10mOhms

RC = 2mOhms

- Calculation - :

- Design and Simulation of Loss calculation for a DC/DC converter in MATLAB/Simulink - :

- The PWM Generator (DC-DC) block is used to pulse fire the MOSFET,GTO,IGBT switch of a one quadrant converter.

- The MOSFET block implements a macro model of the real MOSFET device.

- The Diode block implements a macro model of the real diode device.

- The Powergui block allow us to select one of these methods to solve are ciruit: Continuous or discrete phasor solution.

- The scope block shows a strip chart/graph.

- The Constant block generates a real or complex constant value signal. Use this block to provide a constant signal input.

- The display block shows the instant value.

- The sum block is used for addition.

- The gain block multiplies the input by a constant value.

- The Voltage measurment block measures the instantaneous voltage between two electric nodes.

- Output Waveform (Result) - :

- Zoomed in output graph of scope.

- The first graph shows the input voltage which is 100V .

- The second graph shows the ouput voltage which is near about 90V.

- It has reduced due to the losses in the boost converter which causes the reduction in output voltage of the boost converter.

- Zoomed out output graph of scope.

- The first graph shows the input voltage which is 100V .

- The second graph shows the ouput voltage which starts from zero and stables near about 90V.

- It has reduced due to the losses in the boost converter which causes the reduction in output voltage of the boost converter.

- Conclusion - :

- We have studied and simulated the design of boost converter, and calculating the loss of different components including power switching

device and deriving efficiency of boost converter.
