Project - Speed Control of a Direct Current (DC) motor

In this project a simple PID controller is designed to control the speed of a DC motor. The Proportional constant and the Derivative constants were derived by the pole placement method to be 39.4784 and 5.2732 respectively . But has been tuned to 15 and 7.5 for better performance of the controller. The Integral Constant was set to be 125.

The Input/ Reference speed was set to be in the form of a step function and the obtained speed has been plotted in the scope against the reference speed.

The pole calculation and the defining of the motor parameters were done in separate scripts so that they could be easily edited.
