Project - Position control of mass spring damper system

SIMULINK EXPLANATION :

  1. Open MATLAB type simulink in command window and create the new model.
  2. Click the library browser icon in new model. The library browser is used to it allows you to add block in model by browse the items in new model.
  3. Using library browser drag the clock block.the block is used to Simulink outputs the current simulation time at each simulation step.
  4. add workspace block in the new model.the block used for reads the data in the simulink model.the clock block output connect to the input of workspace block.double click the work space block change the variable name to  time and save format is array and save 2-d signs in 3-d array format.sample time is -1.
  5. drag the pulse generator block using library. the block is used for it generates square wave pulses at regular intervals. The block waveform parameters, Amplitude, Pulse Width, Period, and Phase delay, determine the shape of the output waveform.amplitude=1,period=10,pulse width=50,phase delay=0.
  6. drag the one sum block the name is sum.the sum block is used for Simulink is used to perform addition or subtraction on its inputs.double click the block add one +ve and -ve sign in the block.connect the pulse generator output connect to the sum +ve signs.
  7. Add the three gain block in the new model.the gain blocks are used to multiply the inputs by the constant value.the three gain names are kp,ki,kd.double click the ki block and update the 750 and click ok.double click the kp and add K(1) in the block.and same procedure for kd the value is K(2).
  8. Add one derivative block in the model.the block has used to approximate the continuous the derivative continuous the input signal with respect to the simulation time.
  9. Add the one integrator block in the model. the block has used to its output the current time step for use by the solver to compute the its output at a time.double click the block update the simulation time 0.01.
  10. The sum block output connect to the Kp input block.the integrator output is connect to ki input.the integrator input connect to the sum block output line.the derivative block output connect to the kd input block.the derivative input is connect to sum block output.
  11. Add the one more sum block the name is sum1 block.Double click the block add the list signs is 3+ve sign in the block.the ki output connect to the sum1 input.same procedure for kp and kd output.
  12. drag the one transfer function in the model. the block used for convenient way to represent a linear, time-invariant system in terms of its input-output relationship.Double click block and update the below parameters in the block.no.of.co-efficients=1,denominator co-efficients=m,c,k ,absolute tolerance=auto.
  13. Sum1 output is connect to the transfer function input.
  14. Add one scope block the scope is used to display the input signal with respect to simulation time. double click the scope block and click the setting icon and change the no.of.input ports is 2.the transfer function output is connect to the scope block input.
  15. the scope block another input is connect to the pulse generator output.
  16. the simulation stop time is 30.0.goto model setting go solver section and change the type for fixed step and change the solver to ode4(runge-kutta).and update the fixed step size is 0.01.
  17. create one script file using matlab.update the mass damping system value for m=3.6,k=400,c=100 and also update the pole placement design for fn and wn value.create the a&b matrix value using damping system.update the zeta value and p1&p2 and k value in the matlab file.
  18. Save the script file and simulation model. run the script file once check the workspace bar the values are update are not.run the simulation model.

SCOPE EXPLANATION :

  1. The Scope Output is the best tracking response of the system. It is achieved with the help of the PID Controller. Very small Overshoot and Undershoot of the signal can be seen.the kp gain block update the gain value we will get diffrent output by using the scope block.
