Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1.Identify each of the major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram?

Ans:The major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram.

1.Battery

2.Generator.

3.Distributor.

4.Current voltage regulator

5.Ignition coil.

6.Breaker.

7.Starter

2.Explain the purpose and working of any three elements briefly?

Ans:Battery:

The primary function of an automotive battery is to store and distribute the electric current to various systems in the vehicle.

A modern vehicle needs an automotive battery to operate many electrical components/gadgets.

Generator

An electric generator is a device which is used to produce electric energy which can be stored in batteries (or) can be directly supplied to the homes,shops,offices,etc.

Electric generators work on the priciple of electromagnetic induction.

Distributor

The main function of the car distributor is to provide the high voltage current produced by the secondary coil to the correct spark plugs in the correct firing order and at the correct time.

3.If the total load is 10A from battery, what should be the fuse rating?

Ans: Actually the fuse rating will be estimated as multile times of a load which is given in the question.Then if the total load is 10A from battery then the fuse rating will be 1.25 to 1.5 times of a load.

4.If 500W is the load, what is the voltage and capacity of battery you recommend?

Ans:Give that

Load = 500Watts,

voltage = 12V,

Battery capacity = Amphr,

Formula

Watt = Amps * Volts,

Amps = watts/volts,

500/12 = 41.6Amps

Battery capacity is =Amphr,

=41.6*1 = 41.6 Amphr.

5.Identify any two elements which are connected parallel to each other. Why they are connected in parallel?

Ans:Current & voltage regulator and Generator are in parallel connection.Both are connected in parallel to each other.

Because the current & voltage regulator supplies the power unit of an electronic device converts incoming power into the desired type (AC-DC or DC-AC) and desired voltage/current characteristics. A voltage regulator is a component of the power supply unit that ensures a steady constant voltage supply through all operational conditions.

And electric generator: Generates electricity from the rotating wheels while braking, transferring that energy back to the traction battery pack. Some vehicles use motor generators that perform both the drive and regeneration functions.

soo that's why they are in parallel connection.

6.Identify any two elements which are connected in series. Why they are connected in series?

Ans.Ignition coil and breaker are connected in series.Because they are connected in single path in the circuit.

They are connected in series because.The circuit breaker is a safety device designed to prevent electrical problems in your vehicle. If it detects an issue, like increased temperature, it will physically cut off the current to avoid further problems. It works like an automatic switch that shuts up the power source without involvement from users.

And also, The ignition coil The ignition coil acts like a transformer. By means of two coils, one inside the other, the ignition coil transforms the electrical energy from the vehicle battery into high voltage, saves it briefly and then emits it as a high voltage current pulse to the spark plug.
