Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit
1.Identify each of the major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram.
- Battery
- ammeter
- starter
- generator
- fuse
- juntion box
2.Explain the purpose and working of any three elements briefly.
Battery: The role of a battery (or cell) in an electric circuit is to supply energy to the circuit by doing work upon the charge to move it from the low energy terminal to the high energy terminal. The battery's role in a circuit is all about doing work and providing energy.
Some batteries are rechargable and are used in our daily life.
Ammeter: Ammeter is a device used to measure either alternating or direct current. We know that ampere is the unit of current. Since this device measures the value in amperes, it’s known as ammeter.
- aircraft
- ships
- trains
3.If the total load is 10A from battery, what should be the fuse rating?
P=VI
During switching extra current flows through the circuit, which is a bit higher than the normal or rated current.
So to avoid this situation it is always given more than the rated current. so probably 13A for fuse can be used.
5.Identify any two elements which are connected parallel to each other. Why they are connected in parallel?
All lights: The lights are connected in parallel because if one light stops working the other lights works and for this purpose the lights are connected in parallel.
Battery:They are connected in series for energy efficiency and are connected with high voltage.
Ammeter: Its a measuring device and has very low resistance and if it is connected in parallel it would draw more current and hence damaged.
