Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1.

The major elements are-

battery,starter,ammeter,generator,breaker,switches,current and voltage regulator,distributor,ignition coil,horn ,lamp and lights.

2.

the three elements are-generator,ammmeter and starter.

Generator- the purpose of generator is to supply current for the operation of ignition system,the lighting system and all other parts when the engine is running and to replenish the battery after it has supplied current for starting and other purposes when the engine is at rest.Generator consists of a single loop of wire that can be rotated in a magnetic field between two unlike magnetic poles.A voltage will be created in the loop and a current flows around the loop and through an external circuit.

Ammeter-ammeter shows the amount of current going in or out of the battery or the difference between the two.Ammeter measures the current flowing through a set of coils with a very low resistance and inductive reactance .this allows for a very low impedence,the force that oppposes electric current that lets the ammeter accurately measure the current in a circuit without interference or change dur to ammeter itself

Starter-starter is used to rotate the crank of engine ,to initiate the engine's operation under it's own power.Inside the starter,there are four windings attached to housing from inside.the armature(rotating part) is connected through the carbon brushes in series with field coils.it is powered by solenoid ,which helps push the starter gear forward to mesh with engine flywheel.this flywheel is mounted on the crankshaft,so as the starter motor spins,it turns the flywheel thus also the crankshaft

3.

The fuse rating for a load should be just greater than the value of current from the load,so that the fuse can detect the short circuit and cut the supply when required,so that no damage occurs.So the fuse rating for the load from the battery should be 11 A since the total load is 10 A. Fuse rating = 11 A.

4.

power of load = 500 W

take voltage of battery = 12 V

power = voltage x current

current = power/voltage = 500/12 = 41.6 A

the battery of capacity = 42 Ah,voltage of battery = 12 V

5.

The two tail stops and two two sealed beams are connected in parallel with each other separately.this is because when they are connected in parallel,if one of the component stops working the other will still continue working.So to avoid failure of working of both the lights ,they are connected in parallel.

6.

The fuel gauge and the gas tank unit are connected in series.this is done because the fuel gauge measures the fuel in the gas tank in the form of current by measuring the current from the fuel level measuring equipment in the gas tank.
