Project 2 Thermal modeling of battery pack
THEORY:
When temperatures increase this affects the chemical reactions that occur inside a battery. As the temperature of the battery increases the chemical reactions inside the battery also quicken. At higher temperatures one of the effects on lithium-ion batteries’ is greater performance and increased storage capacity of the battery
Accurate measurement of temperature inside lithium-ion batteries and understanding the temperature effects are important for the proper battery management. In this review, we discuss the effects of temperature to lithium-ion batteries at both low and high temperature ranges. The current approaches in monitoring the internal temperature of lithium-ion batteries via both contact and contactless processes are also discussed in the review.
MATLAB MODEL:

BLOCKS:
10 Cell Series Sub-system:

Battery Block:

Other Blocks:
- Temperature Source - Ambient
- Temperature Sensor
- Scopes
- Bus
- Controlled Current Source
- Signal Builder Source

RESULTS:
@25 Degree Celcius and 10% of total drive cycle (2 secs)

@50 Degree Celcius and 10% of total drive cycle (2 secs)

CONCLUSION:
As one can see, the Ambient Temperature of the cell slights goes up as the the input is increased. The cell temperature has a slight increase at the 10% of the time and the SOC remains failry the same even with the given increase in the input.
Both current and Voltage also remain failry unchanged. But the effects will be more visible with more simulation time.
