Project - 2 - Meshing on the suspension Assembly

Meshing on the suspension Assembly

AIM:

For the given assembly, check for the geometrical errors and mesh with the given element Quality criteria. After meshing the component the thickness has to be assigned for mid surfaces. Use tetra elements to model non-uniform thickness components. Also use Appropriate connections to connect the component as suggested in the Project-2 video (Use PBAR elements to model suspension spring). At last perform Symmetry command to reflect the half finished model to the other side.

Write a detailed report on your meshing process and also mention which method you used to extract the mid-surface along with the reason.

PROCESS:

  • The given ansa file is downloaded into system and is opened in .ansa
  • At first the geometry check is done to whole system and the errors are are fixed

  • The suspension assembly unit is divided into seperate PID's for ease of meshing of surfaces and to seperate the components that are less than 5mm

  • For each component the pshell on surface is done ,for flat surfaces Tria is done and on curved surfaces Orthotria is done

  • For the surfaces less than 5mm the meshed elements are formed using casting and they are seperated into seperate PID

  • The quality is checked for the shells and the elements of components are improved

  • To begin with volume mesh we first define all the components
  • The parts are given with Tetra FEA and is remeshed(The below empty meshed are the mirror once).

  • After solid mesh of all parts we check the Tet collapse in quality and fix them if any

  • Finally we disable all the Pshells and enable all solid meshes

  • We connect all the comopnents using RBE2 & Seam Welds

  • For the spring we have done its mesh using CBAR

  • As per challange we mirror the assembly

*DO NOT ENABLE SHELL MESH ,OPEN ONLY THE SOLID MESH*
