1. Existing 2 lane undivided rural highway of 11’ travel lanes + 4’ shoulder. The typical cross slope is 2.0%
Aim: To revise existing as Existing 2 lane undivided rural highway of 11’ travel lanes + 4’ shoulder. The typical cross slope is 2.0%
Procedure: Go to edit template drop and change the horizontal constraint for the edge of pavement as 11 feet and 4 feet for the shoulder. Same way cross slope for pavement as 2%.
Result: Changed the existing to as specified.
2. Speed of 50 MPH, rolling terrain, major arterial category of the highway remains the same.
Aim: To change the design speed to 50MPH, rolling terrain.
Procedure: Go to design standards toolbar and change it to 2-lane, superelevation of 6% (example), 50 Mph. Apply the changes to alignment by updating.
Result: changed the design speed to 50MPH, rolling terrain
3. Proposed condition – existing 11’ lanes to be made 12’. Adding 1 center turn lane of 12’ and paved shoulder of 10’.
Aim: To change the 11' lane to 12' and add 1 center lane of 12' and a paved shoulder of 10'.
Procedure: Using horizontal constraint change it to 12 feet (Right Click on EOP and change the horizontal constraint). Change the center line lane to 12 feet and paved shoulder of 10' (Right Click on EOS and change the horizontal constraint).
For centre lie add null point ad give horizontal constrait from CL of 6'. Apply feature definition. Do the same on other side too.
Result: Changed the 11' lane to 12' and add 1 center lane of 12' and a paved shoulder of 10'.
4. End conditions of cut/fill/ditch – 1:6 preferred and 1:4 desirable for front slope and 1:4 preferred and 1:3 desirable for back slope.
Aim: To change the conditions f cut/fill/ditch – 1:6 preferred and 1:4 desirable for front slope and 1:4 preferred and 1:3 desirable for back slope.
Procedure:
Use delete components by right-clicking. Only keep the 1:6 for cut/fill/ditch.
1:4 front slope
1:3 for back slope
Result: changed the conditions f cut/fill/ditch – 1:6 preferred and 1:4 desirable for front slope and 1:4 preferred and 1:3 desirable for back slope.
5. Entire typical cross slope to be maintained at 2.0%
Aim: To change the entire slope to 2.0%
Procedure: Change all the cross slopes to 2.0% in the edit template.
Result: Entire slope is changed to 2%.
