Project 2
Aim:
Route the Wiring harness on Given car body and Prepare flatten view drawing in CATIA V5. Application of all Packaging rules, Industry best practices studied in this course shall be demonstrated in design. Apply Protection coverings as required.
The above back door assy. is given for design a wiring harness for electrical items fitted in the door.
Step 1: find out the electrical component in back door.
A basic car back door typically contains several electrical items, which may vary depending on the make and model of the car. Some common electrical items found in a basic car back door include:
- Power window motor: This motor is responsible for controlling the up and down movement of the window glass in power window systems.
- Power window switch: The power window switch is a control panel located on the door panel that allows the driver or passengers to control the movement of the window glass.
- Door lock actuator: The door lock actuator is an electric motor that controls the locking and unlocking mechanism of the door. It is usually integrated with the door latch assembly.
- Speaker: Many cars have speakers installed in the back doors to provide audio output for the vehicle's sound system.
- Wiring harness: The back door may contain wiring harnesses that carry electrical signals to various components such as speakers, power window motor, and door lock actuator.
- Interior lights: Back doors may have interior lights that are controlled by switches on the door panel or by the vehicle's interior lighting system.
- Rearview mirror controls: Some cars have rearview mirrors with built-in controls for features such as power folding or adjusting the mirror angles, which may be located on the back door panel.
- Child safety lock switch: Some vehicles have child safety lock switches on the back doors, which allow the driver to disable the interior door handles to prevent accidental opening by children.
- Door-mounted warning lights: In some vehicles, there may be warning lights or indicators mounted on the back doors to alert other road users of open doors or potential hazards.
Please note that the specific electrical items in a car's back door may vary depending on the make, model, and trim level of the vehicle. It's always best to refer to the owner's manual or consult with a professional mechanic for accurate information regarding your specific car.
In our design we make a harness for basic car back door have the following main component.
- Danger lights
- Wiper
- Back camera R number plate light
Step 2: Find out the place connector needed to fix.

Step 3: place the harness mounting devices

Step4: route the wire.

Step 5:provide productive covering for the harness.

Step 6: flatten the assembly for easy identification

step 7: draft the diagram into pdf
