Project 1 Mechanical design of battery pack

Aim- To design a battery pack of 18Kwh using ,Cell: ANR26650M1-B

No of Cell manufacturing company are avalable in the market .

While Manufacturing the cell ,the Manufacture privides the Data of the cell like how to use,it within the parameters given.

So, Cell: ANR26650M1-B  also come with the data , and that sheet is called as data sheet of the Cell.

Following is the data sheet provided (images). Pdf have also been attached.

Following is the Data provided.

Constant power discharge at 23c and constant current at various temperaature.

From the grah we can say that if we use the cell at 23 c or room temp. ,more power and voltage is observe, but as we increase the power the capacity get decreases.

From the temperature graph, in very Low temperature the the voltage and the capacity of the cell Decreases.

Life cycle At 100 % DOD.

We know that for single cell

Power =Current *voltage

=2.6(Ah)*3.3(v)=8.58 Wh

So by assuming  some data will desidn our battery pack

18 Kwh is given Will assume our car runs 200Km with the voltage of 150 V in series connection.

Per km consumed wh can be calculated by

18000/200= 90 wh/Km

So , for 150 V will need The no of cell connected in series

150/single ceel voltage=150/3.3=45.45 that is consider as 46 no of cells

will calculate total energy of the battery pack.

no of cells connected in series *single cell energy

46*8.58=394.68 Wh

from this we can find the no of cells connected in parallel.

total energy /energy of battery pack

18000/394.68=45.60 that is consider 46 no of cells connected in the parallel.

Total no cells

connected in series *connected in parallel

46*46=2116 no of cells.

Total mass of cell in the battery pack

no of cells in battery pack*mass of single cells(from the data sheet)

2116*0.076KG

160.816 kg

Total volume of the battery pack

total no of cell*volume of single cell (single cell volume=pi*(daimeter)^2/4*Lenght)

2116*0.0345

73.002m^3

Battery pack capacity

no of cells connected in parallel* single cell capacity

46*2.6Ah

119.6Ah.

Cell peak current

Cell max current capacity* Single cell capacity

20(from data sheet)*2.6A

52A

Battery pack peak current

Cell peak cuurent*cell connected in parallel.

52*46

2392A

is the peak curent the battery provides.

batteru pack continous current suppy

cell in parallel connected*(2.6Ah At 10C rate ie 26A)

46*26

1196A

is the continous current battey pack will suplly to the system.

Cells packed in a Module, which can be connected in series or parallel  as per requirement.
