Project 1 - Impact of Ball on Wall

Aim: To perform Explicit analysis of Ball impacting a wall made of Non Linear Aluminum alloy material and compare the results.

Setup:

Geometry- Create a geometry of given dimensions in spacemclaim and proceed to model.

Mesh- Create default mesh and keep element order as linear if required.

Analysis settings-

1) Put End time as 1e-03

2) Insert velocity to ball geometry in negative Y-axis using components as 50m/s,250m/s and 500m/s for 3 cases

Results:

Case 1:The plate deforms by 0.73 mm in negative y direction

Equivalent stress generated: 143 Mpa

Case 2:The plate deforms by 6.25 mm in negative y direction

Equivalent stress generated:

Case 3: The plate deforms by 13.5 mm in negative y direction

Equivalent stress generated: 405.13 MPa

*********The plate ruptures at a velocity of 500m/s
