Project 1 _Creating an Architectural plan for the provided plot size and develop relevant basic structural drawings

Aim: Draw:
1. Architectural drawing of a residential building:
Residential house plan.
Elevation of residential building.
Section of a residential building.
2. Construction drawing:
Column floor plan of the building layout.
Footing plan layout of the building.
beam plan layout of the building.
Commands used:
  • Line.
  • Offset.
  • Rectangle.
  • Crop.
  • Extend.
  • Block.
  • Editing a block.
  • Dimension.
  • Layer.
  • Cover.
  • Design center.
Procedure:
Step 1:
Open AutoCAD, set limits. Select metric when drawing in meters.
Set limits and zoom everything (Command -Z-a). Set the dimension to decimal units and set the precision.
Architectural drawing of a residential building
Residential house plan:
Step 2:
Drawing the plot and indicating the obstacle. Given the size of the plot 18.3m x 6m. Mark the direction N, S, E, W.
Draw a rectangle with dimensions of 6 and 18.3 m.
Make a distance from the plot, 4.3 m and 3 m for the sides. The proposed building should be located within the drawn distance.
Plan drawing:
Step 3:
Wall drawing An offset of 0.25 m from the boundary to the offset is taken for the thickness of the wall.
Step 4:
Living room drawing:
Since the orientation is given as east, the main door should face east. For the living room, give a horizontal offset of 3 m from the west side.
The size of the room will be 3 x 4 m.
The opening for the main door is created by offset 1.5 m from the wall and edging.
According to Vaastu Shastra, North East is suitable for living room and the entrance should face North or East.
Step 5:
Drawing dining room:
Again an offset of 3m from the living room wall for the dining room. The width will be 4.5 m
The size of the dining room is 4.5x3 m. On the north wall of the living room, create a 1 m door opening.
Step 6:
Kitchen drawing:
Offset of 2m horizontally from the dining room wall and 4m vertically. The size of the kitchen is 2x4m.
Cut 1 m for the door opening.
According to Vaastu Shastra, the ideal position for a kitchen is southeast, with the cooking area facing east.
Step 7:
Drawing of the master bedroom and toilet:
From the south wall, an offset of 4m and a width of 4m is connected to the kitchen wall.
The size of the bedroom is 4x4m. Create a 0.80 m opening using the offset and trim commands.
For the toilet, draw a horizontal offset of 1.5 m from the dining room wall.
The size of the toilet is 1.5x2m.
Northeast should be avoided for toilets as per Vaastu Shastra
According to Vaastu Shastra, the ideal location for a bedroom is south-west.
Step8:
Drawing of a bedroom with a toilet:
3m offset from the living room and 2.5m offset from the dining room. The size of the bedroom is 3m x 2.5m.
Draw a 1.5m x 1.5m toilet inside the bedroom.
Trim the excess lines and round the corners.
According to Vaastu Shastra, a room facing North East is good.
Step 9:
Inserting text:
For multi-line text, draw a text box with a text height of 0.15 m and a style like Times roman.
Step 10:
Place the doors and windows in their respective places.
Step 11:
Layer usage:
Different layers are created and objects are placed in the layers. Clicking on a layer will bring up the layer manager dialog.
Create New Layer button and create a layer for Walls, Stairs, Doors, Windows, Text, Dimension. Insert the appropriate elements into the layer.
Step 12:
Design Center:
Use the design center to insert the desired furniture into the plan.
Elevation:
Step 13:
Projecting lines to draw height. Project the wall lines up.
Draw a horizontal line. 1 m offset for plinth level. 2.1m offset for lintel level. Offset 3.5 m for floor level. Offset of 0.6 m for parapet wall.
Cut extension lines to create shutters and panels for doors and windows.
For architectural purposes, create several hatches.
Section:
Step 14:
SECTION A-A:
Project lines from the elevation for elevation and from the plan section line for horizontal features.
Drawing windows, doors and stairs in section. Draw the window and door that we see after cutting the section line.
Cut out unwanted lines.
Step 15:
Hatching and layering:
Use the hatch to hatch the walls with the brick hatch and the foundation with the concrete hatch.
Place windows and foundations in their respective layers and give colors.
SECTION B-B:
Project lines from the elevation for elevation and from the plan section line for horizontal features.
Drawing windows, doors and stairs in section. Draw the window and door that we see after cutting the section line.
Use the hatch to hatch the walls with the brick hatch and the foundation with the concrete hatch.
Place windows and foundations in their respective layers and give colors.
Construction drawings:
1. Column Layout:
Step 16:
placing of columns:
A column of 0.25 m x 0.25 m dimension is considered. Columns are placed at all corners of the wall and wall intersection wherever required.
Now draw a center line for the column from the notes tab - center line.
Now label the grid line as 1,2 in the y direction and A, B, C, D, E, in the x direction.
Create a circle and put text inside it.
The dimension between the grid lines is given because it is used to mark the columns.
Create a layer for the column and place the column in this layer.
Footing layout:
Step 17:
An insulated base measuring 0.5m x 0.5m is provided. Create a rectangle measuring 0.5x0.5m, place the center of the rectangle on the center of the column.
Create a footer layer and place the footers in this layer.
Layout of the plinth beam:
Drawing of the plinth beam:
Step 18:
First connect the columns with a 0.25m wide beam as the wall thickness is 0.25. A plinth beam is placed under all walls.
Create a beam layer and place the plinth beam in this layer.
Result: The architectural and structural plan of the residential building is drawn.
