FACTORS INFLUENCING DYNAMIC CHARATERISTICS OF A BUILDING

-Dynamic characteristics of the buildings are infulenced by properties like

1) Mass

2)Stiffness

3) Damping

properties of the building, if buildings have these 3 in same proportion then building can be similar dynamically.

FACTORS INFLUENCING THE NATURAL PERIOD OF A BUILDING

-Effect of stiffness on T=

Comparision between G&H- Natural time period of building H is 3.23 sec and of buildings G is 2.86 sec., lesser time period show more stiff geometry and less mass. We get to see this much amount of change due more height of building.

Comparisiom between E&F- For E, 1.234sec and for F, 1.285, we can see there is not much change in natural frequency, but natural period of building E is less because its stiffness is more and mass is less.

-Effect of mass on T=

NO change in natural time period due to change in loads

-Effect of building height on T=

With increase in height of building time period of building of also incresing which shows that building is getting flexible.

-Effect of column orientation on T=

Orientation of column is having no impact on time period of building, only change in size of column is making building stiffer or stronger.
