Project 1 : CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

Aim: To generate the 2D triangular mesh and create the wind tunnel to simulate the Tesla cyber truck.

Procedure:

  • First, we need to make the geometry half to produce it into symmetry about an axis, and clean the geometry properly by topo clean up in the topo deck using the proper tools.

  • Mesh the geometry properly by using the target length range of 0.5 to 8 for all the parts of the cyber truck and give lower size values where the gradients change rapidly.

  • Create the wind tunnel by using the standard dimensions and generate the different volumes and delete the solid zone and keep only the fluid zone.

Learning outcomes:

  • The proper usage of topo clean-up tools.
  • The proper selection of target lengths for the surface mesh.
  • The different tools to remove the off elements.
  • The design of the wind tunnel.
  • The different tools in the volume mesh deck.

Results:

  • The proper quality of elements made in the surface mesh is as per the quality criterion.
  • The finer mesh given where the geometrical variations are there can produce the gradient rapidly.

Conclusion:

The number of elements increases the computational effort and computational cost.

The finer mesh increases the number of elements so we need to make the optimum number of elements to reduce the computational cost and effort.

The optimum condition is to get the minimum number of elements by the Grid independence test.
