Project 1 : CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

Aim:

Checking and solving all geometrical errors and Assigning the appropriate PIDs. Performin the meshing with the suitable Target length and element Quality criteria.

Procedure:

  • Import the geometry to ANSA and check the orientation, resolution and units.

    Geometry without faces.

  • After checking that do the TOPO clean so that all the single cons may become double cons.

  • Now after doing the TOPO clean up we have to fill the faces where single cons are present so that there may be no geometrical error in it.
  • After filling the face of the geometry and mesuting the length of the vehicle in all dimension, so that we can create the wind tunnel with reference to the dimensions of the vehicle.
  • The length of the car is 5899.02mm, hieght is 1540mm and from vehicle base to tyres is 70mm.
  • Now to create the wind tunnel the dimenions are as follows:
    Front face is 4X
    Rear face is 6X
    Top face is 3X
Side face is X from both the sides
  • The X value is length of the car which is 5899mm
  • With the help pf the relative point we have to make the tunnel and then creat a cruve and join the faces.
  • After joining the faces we can delete the curve and point.

    In shaded region.

  • After creating the tunnel assigning the PID's for the geometry.

  • Now generating the mesh for different individual PID,s so that we can generate the contineous mesh and quality aspect ratio
  • Starting it with the smallest element of the geometry Lights
where the element size is 3 and the min and max length is 2&4.
  • Then by Tyres Where the element size is 4 and max and min length is 1.5 and 5.
  • Now windows with element size 5 and max and min length is 3 & 7
  • At last with Body Where we dont have the give the element length ust select the local type and give the max and min lenth as 1.5 and 7 for quality aspect ratio.
  • After generating the mesh check the offset element and your offset eleent must be 0 for the geometry.
For chechking the off set enable th min. length, max. length, skewness and aspect ratio in the Quality Criteria.

  • After generating the mesh for the geometry now we have to do for the Wind tunnel .
We have to givve the perimeter and macros for the upper wall as 100
For bottom wall it must be 20 becuase the vehicle is near to the bottom wall
  • Throug the help of facing in meshing through geometric biasing and giving thr factor as 1.2 and DLIMIT as 100 and then selecting all the vertical edges from the tunnel so that there must be continues mesh from upper to bottom and then generating the meshfor each and every side.
  • When the meshing is done for tall the geometrical part including the tunnel and the check the off-set element with the given quality criteria.
  • When the meshing is done for tall the elements check the geometrical errors and then the our work is done.

Outcomes:

  • Topo clean up
  • Assigning PID's
  • Geometrical Erorrs
  • Units
  • Resolution
  • Meshig Quality Criteria

Results:

  • Ginving the surface mesh for the Tesla Cyber Truck and the wind tunnel for all the elements with total number of elements is nearly 1,50,00,000.
