Project 1 : CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

AIM:-

To check and solve all geometrical errors and Assign appropriate PIDs and to perform meshing with the suitable Target length and element Quality criteria.

To create a wind tunnel for CFD analysis as per the standard and to perform the surface mesh on the wind tunnel.

Software Used:-

ANSA v22.1.0

Procedure:-

  • Fisrt of all, need to open the given model and turn on shades.
  • Then need to check the geometrical errors in the check manager and there will be lots of erros available which are need to be cleared as per requirement.
  • In order to clear the geometrical errors need to clear the single and triple CONS which are shown below in the model.
  • There are lots of single CONS presented in the given model. In order to clear the single CONS first need to try TOPO option to clear the topological errors.
  • After clearing the topological errors need to check the geomtrical errors and need to clear the errors. In the given model, there are lots of single CONS and triple CONS found as shown in fig.
  • In the above fig, there are lots of errors available and needed to clear the erros as shown in fig.
  • After that need to clear the penetration errors as shown in fig.
  • After clearing the geometrical and peneration errors need confirm the clearance operation using GEOMTRY CHECKS as shown in fig
  • From the above fig, came to know that there are 173 warnings in the model. since they are only warnings that can be ignored and move forward to next step.
  • After clearing all the errors need to assign PIDs as shown in fig.
  • Then need to make positive outside using ORIENT>>AUTO>>GREY OUTSIDE option.

  • Then need to perform surface mesh operation as per the requirement all each PIDs seperately for the suitable mesh length as given below.

Mesh lengths for the different parts of the model are as follow:-

  1. Tyres - 3mm
  2. Body - 5mm
  • The surface mesh operation sould be performed for each PIDs separately as shown in fig.
  • After that there will be lots of off elements available to clear that need to perform improve operation by redefining the quality criteria in permissible range.
  • After got rid off all the off element need to create the wind tunnel as per requirement.
  • The wind tunnel's dimensions are given below as per the usual operations.
  1. Front end = 4 times of truck's length from the car's front end
  2. Back end = 6 times of truck's length from the car's back end
  3. Top end = 3 times of truck's height from the car's top end
  4. Bottom end = ground range
  5. Two sides = same length as width of the truck from each side end
  • To create the wind tunnel need to create the 3D points at the required dimensions.
  • Then need to create curves to connect the 3D points to create a rectangle shape
  • Then need to create the surfaces of the wind tunnel by using new surfaces option.
  • Then need to perform the surface mesh operation on the surfaces of the wind tunnel as shown in fig

Result:-

The Geometrical clean up and surface mesh operation on the given model had been done there is no off elements presented. The wind tunnel is created and surface meshed as given below
