Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT

INTRODUCTION:

A schedule is a tabular display of information, extracted from the properties of the elements in a project. A schedule can list every instance of the type of element you are scheduling, or it can collapse multiple instances onto a single row, based on the schedule's grouping criteria

A schedule is a smooth presentation of material, extracted from the properties of the elements in a project. A schedule can list every instance of the type of element you are scheduling, or it can collapse multiple instances onto a single row, based on the schedule's grouping criteria.

1)AIM:

Use the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks and list them below
a. Using 3D model create a section box
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements

PROCEDURE:

a. Using 3D model create a section box

Shortcut key used :Section Box- BX

Here am selecting window part

Now using the command BX to create a section box for a window

b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout

Short cut key -Create Similar(CS)

Here am selecting the object sofa & using command CS to create similar object

c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views

Short cut key-Thin lines(TL)

Here am using the command TL the thickness of the line is reduced

d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view

Short cut key-Visibilty graphics (VG)

The VG command which is used to edit the floor settings

Type VG go to floor ,under the pattern row click override ,change the pattern & colour & give ok

e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view

Short cut key:View Range(VR)

Type VR choose the plan view of Top,Cut plane,Bottom ,click apply.

f. To select the previously selected items

Short cut key:Reselect(Ctrl+<)

If we press Ctrl+< the previous selected object is reselected

g. To add annotations to the model views

Short cut key:Dimension(DI)

Type DI the ribbon tab will change ,provide the dimension

h. To bring the model elements in line

Short cut key:Align(AL)

Separate floor is created type AL & choose the line ,its shows the intersection now it is aligned

i. To rotate the model elements

Short cut key :Rotate(RO)

Choose the component that you need rotate ,type Ro & rotate it in the direction that you need

j. To move an object to another location

Short cut key:Move(MV)

Choose the component that you need to rotate type MV ,move it in the direction that you want

l. To mirror an element about an axis

Short cut key :Mirror (MM)

Click the component type MM ,click the intresection point now the component is mirrored

m. To create an array of model elements

Short cut key: Array (AR)

Choose the component type AR mention the number & distance

RESULT:

Task are completed using the shortcut keys

2) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood

9. Graphical Column Schedule

a)To create wall schedule

Go to Schedule icon under view tab ,choose the wall category & give ok

Choose the parameters & give ok

Now the wall schedule has been created

b)To create door schedule

Go to Schedule icon under view tab ,choose the Door category & give ok

Choose the parameters & give ok

Now the wall schedule has been created

C)To create window schedule

Go to Schedule icon under view tab ,choose the Window category & give ok

Choose the parameters & give ok

Now the wall schedule has been created

d)To prepare a material schedule

Under view tab choose material takeoff under schedule icon

Choose floor category & give ok

Now the material schedule has been created

RESULT:

Schedules for walls ,doors, windows ,materials has been created successfully

3) Using Revit Calculate area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room. Prepare a schedule report for area and volume of each room.

Schedule report for area & volume of each room has been created successfully

4) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepare total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take off

AIM:

Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepare total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take off

PROCEDURE:

Click any one side of the wall ,go to edit type ,given the cost value has 30 & click apply

Go to schedule icon under manage tab ,click material takeoff, click wall under category & give ok

Give the parameters & give ok

To calculate the entire cost click dummy column ,calculated option ,given the name has total cost & formula (Material:volume/1CF)*cost

Now total cost is calculated

To calculate the cost of individual material follow the same process

RESULT:

Total cost of the material has been calculated successsfully

5) Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, list a flowchart for the following scenario
a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo ?
b. If there is no water coming from the pipes
c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project

a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo ?

1) Preparation of formwork

2) Assembling the formwork

3) Placement of Reinforcement

4) Concrete placing

5) Compacting

6) Curing

7) Completed

b. If there is no water coming from the pipes

1)Check the pipe connection

2)Check water supply

3)Check for any leaks

4)Fix the problem

c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project

Explain the project to the client

Provide time for client to decide

If he accepts to pay, continue the project

(or)

If he refuses to pay, decline the project

6) List the parameters associated with each model element
a. Wall
