Planetary Gear

AIM :- today i am going for designing the Planetary Gear,its assembly and show motion analysis. after that i also plot the graph between various output for various input for different combination of motion given to the planetary gear

What are Planetary Gears?

A planetary gear set is made up of three types of gears; a sun gear, planet gears, and a ring gear. The sun gear is located at the center (yellow), and transmits torque to the planet gears (blue) which are typically mounted on a moveable carrier (green). The planet gears orbit around the sun gear and mesh with an outer ring gear (pink). Planetary gear systems can vary in complexity from very simple to intricate compound systems, depending on the application.

Where are Planetary Gear Systems Used?

Planetary gears are often used when space and weight are an issue, but a large amount of speed reduction and torque are needed. This requirement applies to a variety of industries, including tractors and construction equipment where a large amount of torque is needed to drive the wheels. Other places you will find planetary gear sets include turbine engines, automatic transmissions, and even electric screwdrivers.

FOR GIVEN QUESTION

we need to calculate the pitch circle diameter and the number of teeth for the planet gear.

the following data given in question:-

Module = 2.5

Ring Gear Number of teeth = 46

Sun Gear Number of teeth = 14

so we able to calulate the diameter of ring gear and sun gear as well,

module(M) =diameter of gear/no. of teeth

by using above formula

dia of ring gear =module*no. of teeth

= 2.5*46

= 115.

dia of ring gear =module*no. of teeth

= 2.5*14

= 35.

so we able to calculate the dia. of planet gear

2* dia. of planet gear = dia. of ring gear - dia. of sun gear

(NOTE here we take 2 because in between ring gear and sun gear it will consist two planet gear so we need to eliminate the extra planet gear value.)

2* dia. of planet gear = 115 - 35

dia. of planet gear = 80 / 2

=40

so finally we calulate teeth of planet gear

teethof planet gear = dia. of planet gear / module

= 40/2.5

=16

after calculation we able to find the follwing value

Module = 2.5

Ring Gear Number of teeth = 46 diameter = 115

Sun Gear Number of teeth = 14 diameter = 35

planet gear Number of teeth = 16 diameter = 20

with the help of followin data we are able to drow the componet or part of palnetry gear. so move on solidworks for part drowing

PART DROWING

for gear drowing in solidworks we directly import gear from library tool in SW

COMMAND :-Design library / Toolbox / Add in now / ANSI Metric / Power transmission / Gear

SUN GEAR

COMMAND :-Design library / Toolbox / Add in now / ANSI Metric / Power transmission / Gear / Spur gear

provide the value as given

module = 2.5

no. of teeth = 14

pressure angle = 20

face width = 5

CLICK OK AND WE GET

FOR RING GEAR

COMMAND :-Design library / Toolbox / Add in now / ANSI Metric / Power transmission / Gear /Internal Spur gear

provide the value as given

module = 2.5

no. of teeth = 46

pressure angle = 20

face width = 5

CLICK OK AND WE GET

FOR PLANET GEAR

COMMAND :-Design library / Toolbox / Add in now / ANSI Metric / Power transmission / Gear / Spur gear

provide the value as given

module = 2.5

no. of teeth = 16

pressure angle = 20

face width = 5

CARREIR DROWING

AFTER PART DROWING COMPLETED. WE JUMPED INTO ASSEMBELY AND IMPORT IN ASSEMBLY WORKSPACE

IN assembly we apply sutable constrain and apply different mate . in this assembly we donot use gear mate, instead of gear mate we use solid contect (steel dry)

01) input sun gear

fixed ring gear

in this plot we clearly see that after giving input to sun gear fixing ring gear @200 rpm the out will increse gradully

and the plot has same slop
