MBD Simulation on a Piston Assembly

AIM

IN this project we are going to Model all the parts piston assembly and then assemble them in SolidWorks. The motion analysis is going to be carried out in three different conditions,

Sl.No

Wrist Pin Offset `

Crank Speed (Rpm)

2 10 mm Positive 2000
3 10 mm Negative 2000

BASIC INRODUCTION OF PISTON ASSEMBLY : -

CRANK

Crankshaft is a part of the engine that helps you convert the linear motion of the Piston into rotary motion that can be delivered to the gearbox/wheels.

Without the crankshaft you can't transfer the reciprocating motion of pistons to the drive shaft.

CONNECTING ROD

connecting rod is a medium which is used to transmit reciprocating motion of piston in to rotatory motion of crank shaft.

WRIST PIN

a cylindrical boss or pin attached to the side of a wheel parallel with the axis esp one forming a bearing for a crank

PISTON

A piston is a moving disk enclosed in a cylinder which is made gas-tight by piston rings. The disk moves inside the cylinder as a liquid or gas inside the cylinder expands and contracts

PLOT

Linear displacement of the Piston Head

in this graph we will see that the variation of lower limit and upper limit of displacement ia almost same . the displacement of piston head about to 88 in all time of iterval means the transmition of rotaty motion into the linear motion in each rotion are same or equal.

angular velocity plot of crank @2000rpm

from above graph we are confrom or sure that our crank rotate with given angular veocity2000rpm.

here we clearly see that the velocity vary betweeen lower limit12000 and upper limit 12000 degree per sec means @ 2000rpm

  • (02) applying mate and constrain for Wrist Pin 10 mm negative Offset

aseembly

proof of 10 mm negative offset

here we use measure scale from evolute tool to show the 10 mm negative offset is taken correcty
