PIPE FLOW SIMULATION
Objective
To simulate the pipe flow with the halp of Reynold no. 100, 1000, 10000 and find the output given below.
For each of these cases.
1. Place line probes at 95%, 90% and 85% of the pipe length.
2. Compare the normalized velocity profile at each of these locations
3. Normalize the velocity profile by the inlet velocity.
Input
Take water as working fluid
Dia of pipe = 0.018m
Length of pipe = 0.5m
Take dynemic viscosity and density of water at 20 degree celcius
use the above chart
Kinematic viscosity = dynamic viscosity/fluid density
Reynolds number = (Density x Fluid velocity x Internal pipe diameter) / dynamic viscosity
Reynolds number = (Fluid velocity x Internal pipe diameter) / Kinematic viscosity
with the halp of these formula
We get , velocity for Re 100 = 0.005 m/s
velocity for Re 1000 = 0.055 m/s
velocity for Re 10000 = 0.557 m/s
Setup for flow semulation
- Design the part creat lead and prob
- Go to flow semulation creat new project
- Go to input data salect fluid type as water, flow type leminar & tarbulent and put pressure 101325 pa & temp 293.2
- Go to boundry condition define inlet, outlet, & wall of the boundry
- Go to result and setup xy plot select the line prob one by one for the different velocity at that point
- Run the semulation
- After complet the running slect cut plot and define it as a velocity and salect mesh
- Creat new pramatric study add semulaton prameter
- Go to output velocity add result
- Go to scenario and copy it and paste and change the input velocity
- and finaly run to get all the result
Result
Case 1 (Re = 100)
Cut plot
Case 2 (Re = 1000)
Cut plot
Case 3 (Re = 10000)
Cut plot
XY plot at Re = 100, 1000, 10000 and probline at 95%
XY plot at Re = 100, 1000, 10000 and probline at 90%
XY plot at Re = 100, 1000, 10000 and probline at 85%
XY plot for velocity comprission
In above result we clearly see the change in velocity according to Re no.
