Challenge

Flow over a cylinder

Given Input

Dia of cylinder = 0.02

Velocity of fluid(air) = 10 m/s

Density of fluid = 1.169 kg/m^3

Dynamic viscosity = 1.8680*10^-5 kg/ms

(Dynamic viscosity & density of air is at 30 degree C)

Using the given input we calculated reynolds no.

Re = 12516.05

as per the challenge we have to increse the calculated reynold no. as the factor of 20%, 40%, & 100% then calculate the new velocity.

Case 1

By increasing the Reynold no. by 20%

we get

Re = 15019.26

velocity = 12 m/s, End time = 0.08

Case 2

By increasing the Reynold no. by 40%

we get

Re = 17522.47

velocity = 14 m/s, End time = 0.07

Case 3

By increasing the Reynold no. by 100%

we get

Re = 250321.1

velocity = 20 m/s, End time = 0.05

Case 2

Case 3

Observation

By running the above semulation we clearly see the effect change in velocity of air and by the halp of that we know that the our design behaviour.
