Photo Realistic Rendering
MODELLING OF AMERICAN CHOPPER
In this project we learn to model different parts of american chopper and assemble them using solid works. The chopper is modelled by first drawing a 2D sketch and then converting it to 3D using basic commands in solidworks and the parts are assembled . Later materials and decals are added. Finally the chopper is rendered and photorealistic model is created by altering the camera angle and background settings.
The components which we learnt in chopper are:-
- Chassis
- Engine with exhaust system.
- Front wheel and rear wheel with rims and sprocket calipers.
- Front Fork
- Front and rear fender
- Oil tank
- Chain and transmission belt
- Kickstand and foot pedal
- Gastank
the features and properties used in the entire model to design different parts:-
- Extrude boss

- Fillet

- Revolve boss feature

- Extrude cut

- Shell

- Linear pattern

G.Mirror

- Projected curve

1.Chassis
Chassis is the main supporting member of the vehicle.it is the skeleton to house all the parts of the vehicle.

The chassis is the main frame of the chopper.
It uses features such as
1.extruded boss
2.splines,
3.revolve
4.mirror
5.sweep.
6.fillet
7.cut extrude
8.split.
9.dome
2.Engine

The engine is the power house of the vehicle.it powers the bike
The engine is power source of the bike.
It uses features such as
1.extruded boss
2.splines,
3.revolve
4.mirror
5.sweep.
6.fillet
7.cut extrude
8.split.
9.dome
3.Front wheel and rear wheel with rims and sprocket calipers.
Front and rear wheels balance the vehicle and accelerate it forward.

Features used to create the Front wheel:
- Sketch
- Lines
- 3 point arc
- Sketch fillet
- Revolve
- Spline 2
- Extend
- Trim
- Cut extrude
- Offset
- Revolve cut
- Circular pattern
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Front Fork
- Front fork attach the whole chassis and the front wheel. It is typically made with triple clamps. It is also used to give suspension to the whole bike and front wheel includes parts front fork, handle bars, head lights, break and clutch levers. First the half portion of the front fork has been created and the whole body is mirrored about the plane. Projected curves were used to model the handles and the cables. The handles of the front fork were given grips.

- Lines
- Revolve
- Circle
- Fillets
- Linear pattern
- Spline
- Extrude cut
- Dome
- Curve
- Sweep
- Plane
- Mirror
- Combine
- Front and rear fender
The front and rear fender protect the rider from the dirt that cast into the wind by the movement of the wheel.

- Sketch
- 3-point arc
- Extend
- Trim
- Revolve
- Spline
- Fillet
- Shell
- Oil tank
The oil tank holds the fuel necessary for the vehicle to move.

- Lines
- 3-point arc
- Boss extrude
- Combine
- Fillet
- Shell
- Chain and transmission belt
To transmit the power with help of chain from the engine to the wheels.

To transmit the power with help of pulleys. Transmission belt is located at the round surface of the pulleys.

Features used to create the Pedal:
- Sketch
- Lines
- Circles
- Fillet
- Revolve
- Dome
- Chamfer
- Linear pattern
- Kickstand and foot pedal
A pedal is a strong rigid body and used to rest the foot while riding bike.

Kickstand support the bike when the bike is standing.

Features used to create the Front wheel:
- Sketch
- Lines
- 3 point arc
- Sketch fillet
- Revolve
- Spline 2
- Extend
- Trim
- Cut extrude
- Offset
- Revolve cut
- Circular pattern
- Chamfer
- Fillet
9.Gastank
The gas tank covers the oil tank and engine, and also it acts shield to prevent the heat from the engine. The seat was modelled on the top of the gas tank

Features used to create the Gas tank:
- Blueprint sketch
- Spline
- Surface sweep
- Surface trim 2
- Surface boundary
- Surface loft
- Curve
- Mirror
- Surface knit
- Surface extrudes
- Fillet
- Extrude cut
- Shell
