Identification of Cracks
A1 Image a shows beam column joint. The failure is at the beam. The damage is cause by not providing sufficient cover to the beam. The improper mixing and vibration may have also been the reason for the failure of the beam.
image B shows chipping off like phenomenon of concrete. it is due to honeycombing. the first layer can be removed and a new layer of shortcrete can be provided to repair the damage.
Image C shows damage at the beam column joint. The damage is due to High shear forces on the beam. It can be repaired only aesthetically it won't be fully functional in the long run and may cause failure.
A2 Image A shows failure of column due to buckling. The column should be long enough to resist the buckling moment. To avoid this type of failure the lapping of reinfocement bars should be done in a way which is not overlapping.
Image B shows failure due to high shear force. This is called short column effect.
Image C shows failure at the beam column joint. the concrete used was of poor quality and wasn't set the way it should which resulted in failure at the joint. This damage cannot be repaired.
