HOOD DESIGN :

Hood is a most important Component in the car. its purpose is to provide access to the engine for repair and Maintenance.Reduce damage of pedestrian considering head impact ,associated with low speed crash with pedestrian .Product the underlying parts and the motor form theft,also totake away the ability to disable the car alarm.Protect parts under the hood from environmental damage like corrosion and water.Give the car better aerodynamics and a good look with styling.

1) Outer Panel of Hood :-

Offset surface for further hemming process.

Hemming :

Hemming is a forming operation in which the edges of the sheet are folded or folded over another part i order to acheive a tight fit.Normally hemming operation are used to connect parts together , to improve the apperance of a part and to reinforce part edges.hemming benefit is strengthen the sheet metal edge , surface appearance and surface quality , rough edge and burrs also connect the other sheet or part .

Types of hemming :

1) Flat or closed hemming

2) Open hemming

3) Teardrop hemming

4) Rope hemming

5) Rolled hemming

Three Face Blend Command :

Relief Hemming :

Mirror geometry command after completing all the process on one side of outer hood.

2) Hood Inner Panel :-

Linked surface of outer hood panel

Tooling axis of Inner hood panel

Offset surface with various measure as per Master section (Flanges).

Emboss or Deep drawing :-

Emboss -

Emboss allows Strentheninng properties of sheet material to be increased.It is a stamping process for producing raised or sunken design or relief in sheet.Metal sheet is drawn to shallow depths with male and female meshing dies.

Deep Drawing -

Deep drawing is a sheet metal forming process by which a sheet metal blank is slightly clamped along its perimeter by a blank holder and radially drawn into a forming die by use of punch.The mechanical action of the punch in combination with the hollw die applies both tensile and compressive force that transform the shape under high pressure.It retains the thickness of the sheetmetal material and products highly accurate , repeatable components.
