Hood design-Week 2
Hood is the major Part for vehicle, which can cover entire engine portion.
Majorly Hood Assembly contains 4 Parts :
1) Hood Outer
2) Hood Inner
3) Hinge assembly
4) Striker
5) Gas Stay Reinforcement
Major Design Rules for Hood Design-
1) Opening of Hood is average height of Human as per foreign rule.
2) Cutouts must create for Inner panel as per shape of Panel
3) Minimum embosess depth is 6mm
4) Need to check hood design as predictions of Hits and Wrape over
1) Hood Outer: Hood outer is outer panel which wrapes with Inner panel as Hemming process
2) Hood Inner: For Inner panel need to create Emboses for more strength and cutouts for Hits strength as well mastic Supports
3) Hinges: Hinges are used to attach between Hood panel and BIW as it moves in Circular opening
4) Striker: It is the component which used to lock the panel with latch which is fitted with engine compartment.
5) Gas stay reinforcement: it supports to hold the gas stay which is used to hold when it opens.
The Area where the humans are fell when accidents:

The given mastersection indicates the Creation of Hood assembly
Hood Inner:

Hood Outer:

Hinge Assembly:

Striker:

Important :
- Need to create tri tangent circle with refererance to Hinge axis
- It shows the Correct result about closing of Striker.

After confirming Hemming process required for Assembled the Outer panel with Inner panel instead of welding

Hemming: Hemming is a sheet metal forming process in which sheets are joined by bending it to 180°. Automotive body panels and automotive parts such as deck-lids, trunk-lids, doors, hoods and tailgates are formed by hemming process
Final Assembly:

Conclusion : completion of Hood Assembly by using Seimens NX.
