Hood design-Week 2
AIM : Design Hood Outer Panel, Inner Panel and the necessary reinforcements by following the Master Section mentioned with the Design parameters.
Data to be used:
Hood Thickness Information
- Outer Panel Thickness = 0.75mm
- Inner Panel Thickness = 0.75mm
- Reinforcement Thickness = 1.5mm
Master Section:

What is Hood?
Hoods are usually made from the same material as the rest of the body. This can be steel, aluminum, fiberglass, or carbon fiber. However, some aftermarket companies produce fiberglass or carbon fiber steel hood replacements to make the vehicle lighter.

Outer panel
The outside panels provide the shape of the car body whereas the inner panels reinforce the shell of the body. The various curved shapes are given to outer panels to provide the strength to panels.

Embosses on the inner panel
The embosses on the inner panel are designed to distribute the impact forces on the outside which protects the passenger during a crash. These embosses are designed in a particular shape (Y or V shape). The shape mostly depends on the output from the CAE team.

Hemming
Hemming is a technology used in the automotive industry to join inner And Outer closure panels together (Hoods, Doors, tailgates, etc). It is the process od bending/folding the flange of the outer panel over the inner one.

Hinge & Striker Assembly

Here the wrap around distance comes into the picture, the wrap-around distance is the area covered by the hood on the car. This distance is used to differentiate the adult impact zone and child impact zone.

Conclusion
From this challenge the have learned the NX Software, commands & Hood design. i have been learn more Knowledge about Design.
