Final Project: Electric Rickshaw modelling

For the given project considering Mahindra Trea E-rickshaw as shown below ,

Specifications :

Basic Design of E-rickshaw -

Procedure for creating matlab model :

1) Vehicle Body :

Parameters -

a) Tire (Magic Formula)

b) Vehicle Body

2) Electrical System :

Parameters -

a) DC Motor

b) H-Bridge

c) Controlled PWM

3) Battery System

Parameter -

Battery

4) SOC

Parameter -

Gain Input

5) Controller

6) Distance

7) Drive Cycle Input

We have taken 3 inputs ,

i) Drive Cycle FTP75

ii) Wide Open throttle (WOT)

iii) Signal Builder

We have created our own drive cycle . The excel sheet is attached below .

Importing this data in signal builder we will get plot like shown below ,

Final Model -

Result -

Distance Travelled

SOC and Current

Input Speed and Velocity Speed

We see that the input speed is as per drive cycle we created in signal builder .

Motor and Controller Temperature

Observations :

- From the obtained vehicle speed performance we can conclude that vehicle has attained its maximum speed and there is very slight delay in the de accelaration but the accelaration and top speed were performed very well by the vehicle . Rickshaw has obtained an output according to the drive cycle from the excel sheet and it can be tested for many drive cycle by selecting in the drive cycle block . It has travelled 44 km by the present 60V battery capacity , if we increase battery capacity to higher levels we can travel more distance .

- In the above graph of SOC we can see ups and downs this indicates the accelaration and deaccelaration of the vehicle , at initial the battery capacity was 100% and to complete the drive cycle it is discharged by 3% .

- The current flow varying from battery to motor for the given drive cycle from EXCEL sheet .

- The Temperature of the Motor is increased to 1968°C, the Temperature of the Controller is 627°C with 10000 as the thermal mass given both to the motor and the H - bridge .
