Final Project: Design of an Electric Vehicle

Here we can Design and develop some EV model and driven by Different cycles.

So, First of all we can design our model like this,

1) Model of our vehicle -

2) vehicle body - Transmission system

In this vehicle body , we set 4 tires across the transmission system and use magic tyres for that from mechanical simscape physical modeling. we set some values for that as per below

,

After that, Its all about inertia and velocity which will given by motor driven.

3) Tires -

we use magical tire formula for our model that gives our system to move on the way. Below we can see our configuration for vehicle, like rolling resistance.

4) control system -

In our EV model , use controlled pwm for controlling and providing voltage for moving it.

we used half bridge converter for our operation as per given,

And also for pwm controlled voltage block shown, or creates pulse width modulated voltage across the pwm and REF ports.

5) Longitudinal driver -

Its purpose is that to get instructions, acceleration and Deceleration commands to controller from data.

6) simple gear box -

fixed ratio gear box that , no inertia is modeled in this block. B port stands for Base and F port stands for Follower

7) Dc motor -

Here we take dc motor for our model because of lots of electric vehicle work on DC motor. This block represent torque characteristics of DC motor. we used permenant magnet DC motor.

These are the parameter we given for that,

8) Battery -

As per our requirement , we choose generic battery in simulink which is lithium ion battery which used in our model.

9) Display -

It is block that shows us how many distance we travelled .

10) Different drive cycles -

These are some different drive cycle we used in our model, like by using drive cycle source we can create by our udds requirement how much speed and distance we want, and also like that there are signal bulder where we can put signal too generate ouput, and also like that there is some slider gain to accelerate our vehicle as per our to generate accuracte data for speed and distance.

* observation and Result -

we observe that whenever we put or scroll our slider gain higher with speed so the sitance get closer for us, but the battery draining is also high for that. And we also observe by taking initial value of drive cycle block , we get that if we traveelled along for 15 minute we can go further about 5 km of distance and the battery is about 3 % of dod means loss.

These are some graph useful to see how that get,

1- this block show how we travelled distance-

2 - this graph shows us what is the soc of our battery after driving how it can drain rapidly.

3 - this graph shows us how we use drive cycle and with along ps simulate for our model.

* conclusion -

we conclude that whenever we go for driving with ev that get some energy from battery which is 100 % soc when fully charged, after that when we cover the distance as per speed that it will decrease our vehicle battery percentage .In our model we drive vehicle 1500 sec long time and get that the distance travelled 4 km and drain battery about 3 %dod. (7 % soc is remaining and simulation to be done after that .Whenever braking used there where some energy stored into our battery because of Regenrative braking by motor. Thats all!
