Final Project: Design of an Electric Vehicle
Create a MATLAB model of electric car which uses a battery and a DC motor. Choose suitable blocks from Powertrain block set. Prepare a report about your model including following:
Objectives:
1. System level configurations
2. Model parameters
3. Results
4. Conclusion
Block using for the model:
- drive cycle source
- constant
- longitudinaldriver
- simulink PS converter
- scope display
- battery
- motor controller
- SOC estimate
- vehicle body
- distance measurment
Simulation model:
1) drive cycle source: in the above model FTP75 drive cycle source are used. drive cycle is variation of velocity with respect to time. the FTP drive cycle runs (2474 seconds). so in simulation model running is 2474 second.
parameters of FTP drive cycle:

PLOT of FTP drive cycle:

2) longitudinal driver:
A parametric longitudinal speed tracking controller for generating normalized acceleration and braking commands based on reference and feedback velocities.

parameters:

3) motor controller:
Subsystem:

in the motor controller subsystem following block are used:

H-bridge:

DC motor:

Current sensor:

Controlled voltage source:

4) battery block:

7) Distance calculation:

OUTPUT:

The velocity graph can be seen and velocity is depends on drive cycle input.
In the above output graph the state of charge of the battery decreases with time. in the SOC graph speed spikes shows the regenrative braking is considered. the state of charge is presented as 87.12% at distance 17.25 kmph.
vehicle traveled 17.25kmph in 2474 sec with 13% state of charge.
Current:

the current output is plotted and observed that the current is fluctuating with respect to time.
Conclusion:
In the above Model sucessfully design electric vehicle in FTP drive cycle and analyze the state of charge estimation and velocity, giving output the total diastance completed of vehicle.
