Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
AIM: To find the given design of car part passes the european standards or not.
GIVEN DESIGN:

REGULATION RWQUIREMENTS:

PROCEDURES:
- Make out line of wheel and fender and find centre of wheel
- then draw horizontal and perpenicular line from wheel and wake 30 and 50 degree lines from centre
- make a point on 150m along at fender and extend line fom centre of wheel.
- Then make a line that is exactly between the 50-degree line and the line made on the 150mm point
- Measure the distances between the points on the wheel circle and fender curve.
- All of these should be greater than 10mm to satisfy the European standard.
- Then horizontal distances from SA, SB, and SC points to the fender curve should be at least 5mm.
- Check whether the design passes these conditions.
SKETCH:
Let us measure the distances between the points at the 5 sections.

SA
25.992 mm > 10 mm

SB
43.642 mm > 10 mm

SC
38.36 mm > 10 mm

SD
41.024 mm > 10 mm

SE
43.786 mm > 10 mm

Now to find the horizontal distance between the wheel and the fender. This distance should be at least 5mm from SA point, SB point, and SC point.

Distance between SA point and fender outer curve = 9.949 mm (pass)

Distance between SB point and fender outer curve = 10 mm (pass)

Distance between SC point and fender outer curve = 0.114 mm (fail)

TABLE:
| DISTANCE | RESULT | |
| SA | 25.92>10 | PASS |
| SB | 43.64>10 | PASS |
| SC | 38.36>10 | PASS |
| SD | 41.02>10 | PASS |
| SE | 43.78>10 | PASS |
| FENDER OUTER CURVE TO | DISTANCE | RESULT |
| SA | 9.94 > 5 | PASS |
| SB | 10 > 5 | PASS |
| SC | 0.114 < 5 | FAIL |
CONCLUSION:
The given design passes all european standards exepct one. The SC point to fender curve is below the recommended 5mm distance. So it will not passes the european standards.
