Benchmarking

Benchmarking

Benchmarking is a process of finding the performance of a company’s products and its features against those of another product

considered to be the best in the industry. The role of benchmarking is to measuring internal opportunities for improvement. By

studying companies with great performance, breaking down what makes such great performance possible, and then comparing those

processes to how impliment changes in features and designs on the basis of up coming market value.

There are two basic kinds of improvement opportunities

continuous and dramatic.

  • Continuous improvement is incremental, small adjustments etc...
  • Dramatic improvement can only come about through re-engineering the whole product.

Benchmark with presently available cars in the market for the following case.

  • Performance
  • Driveability
  • Sound
  • Real life fuel consumption
  • Pollutant emissions
  • Friction
  • Energy management
  • Vehicle dynamics,
  • Handling
  • Ride Comfort

for example we take four cars for benchmarking

  • Maruti Suzuki Vitara
  • Skoda rapid
  • Tata Nexon
  • Mahindra XUV 300
