Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
AIM:
Calculate the Wheel Arch gap at required points and check whether the car passes the European standard.

Fender Wheel Arch:
Fender Wheel Arch is the sem-circular part positioned above the wheel of the vehicle.
The most important body was a change that the front wheel arch was cut higher into the fender.
The car was large, with high-definition headlights that extend to the wheel arch.
Fender Safety:
The fender is a part of the car, it is also used a protect the side of the engine compartment.
Pedestrian safety is also considered while designing a wheel arch in a fender since the debris in the wheel shouldn't hit them in the motion of the car.
Fender is also reduced pedestrian injury when there is a pedestrian-vehicle crash and prevents the throwing up of debris nearby vehicles.

Types of the fender:
There are two types of fender. they are:

- Full Bumper.
- Half Bumper
Full Bumper of the fender:

The full bumper mostly covers the wheel part almost 18% as shown below.
Half Bumper of the fender:

Half Bumper helps reduce the weight of the fender while proving the safety of pedestrian moving motion as shown in the figure.
Japan Regulation Standard:

The clearance value will be more than 5mm at 30 degrees forward and 50 degrees at backward from the central vertical line.
European Regulation Standard:

The clearance value will be more than 10mm at 30 degrees at forward and 50 degrees at backward and the line 150mm above X-axis and Mid-point between 50 degrees and the line above 150mm.
US Regulation Standard:

Make clearance check details on all positions from -10 to 180 degrees. All values must be greater than 5mm. The Clearance Value will be more than 5mm at line 30 degrees forward and 50 degrees backward from the central vertical axis.

Measuring the distance from the wheel arch to the wheel tyre:
SA:

Clearance of SA=9.9490
SB:

Clearance of SB=10
SC:

SC clearance value=0.113949
SD:

SD clearance value=2.8875
SE:

SE clearance value =5.9973

Result:
The value of Clearance (L) is measured at all five locations and tabulated. The table shows that only a section SB has 10 mm clearance and at remaining four section values will not have more than 10mm with the help of measure data, the given fender does not qualify the European standard for wheel arc area.
