Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Aim:-
This project shows that examine the given fender wheel arch design to verify the wheel arc of the fender meets the european standards
Fender wheel arch:-
- fender wheel arch is the sem - circular part poisioned above the wheel of the vehicle.
- The most important body was a change that the front wheel arch was cut higher into the fender.
- The car was large in size, high defination headlights that extend into the wheel arch.

Fender safety:-
- Fender is a part of the car, it is also used to protecting the side of the engine compartment.
- Pedestrian safety is also considered while designing a wheel arch in a fender since the debris in the wheel shouldnt hit them in the motion of the car.
- Fender is also reduced pedestrian injury when there is pedestrian vehicle crash and prevent the throwing of debris nearby vehicle.

Types of fender
There are two types of fender they are
1)full bumper
2)half bumper
Full bumper of the fender:-
The full bumper of the fender mostly cover the wheel part almost 18% as shown below

Half bumper of the fender:-
Half bumper helps reduce the weight of the fender at the same time it proves the safety of the pedestrian moving motion as shown in the figure

Fender design considerations:-
1) Drip area
2) Wheel arch
3) Baffle and ORVM mount area
4)Frontal crash regulation and requirements.
standards for designing the front fender and the european standard for tyhe wheel arch:
According the european standard clearance length for the wheel arch will be 10mm. SA,SB,SC,SD,SE are the points on the wheel from where it is projected to the wheel arch to measure the distance

sketch for measurement:

Measuring the distance from the wheel arch to the wheel tyre as shown below
Next we will note down the clearance value,
clerance for SA = 9.9578mm

clearance for SB = 10mm

clearance for SC = 0.113768mm

clearance for SD = 2.9195mm

clearance for SE= 5.9755mm
observation tabular from mentioned below:
| positioned | Required clearance value(mm) | observed clearance value (mm) | The requirement test |
| SA | 10 | 9.9578 | FAILED |
| SB | 10 | 10 | PASSED |
| SC | 10 | 0.113768 | FAILED |
| SD | 10 | 2.9195 | FAILED |
| SE | 10 | 5.9755 | FAILED |
FINAL RESULT:
From the above observation calculation of the given fender wheel arch design will not pass the european standard in the position SA,SB,SC,SD and SE has a clearance less then 10mm which is the minimum requirement for the european standards.
