Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge

OBJECTIVE : The objective of the challenge is to check whether thr given wheel arch will pass the European standards or not.

EUROPEAN STANDARDS 

1. The clearance 'L' at all the five sections SA, SB, SC, SD, SE should be greater than 10 mm to pass the test.

2. The value of 'a' shall be 30 deg forward and 50 deg rearward from central vertical axis of the wheel.

DISTANCES FOR 'L'

SA - 9.9489 mm

SB - 10 mm

SC - (-0.112637) mm

SD - (-2.8468) mm

SE - (-5.9018) mm

SA - fail

SB - Pass

SC - fail

SD - fail

SE - fail

DISTANCES 'a'

for 30 deg forward - 44.7577 mm 

for 50 deg rearward - 38.3741 mm 

both the clearances are passing the standards of 'a'

 CONCLUSION : From the calculations and the results obtained, the wheel arch fender is NOT PASSING the European Standards.
