Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
AIM- Calculate the Wheel Arch gap at required points and check whether the car passes the European standard.
Wheel Arch an arch-shaped cavity which surrounds a wheel. It protects both passengers compartment and pedestrians from the projection of Water, Mud, and Stones. Wheel arch are there to stop water and dirt getting into tight spots to prevent corrosion. They protect electrics or pipework from the water. It is made as per the guidelines of respective countries.
EUROPEAN STANDARDS FOR WHEEL ARCH
- The clearance "L" as shown in the above fig at all the five sections SA-SA, SB-SB, SC-SC, SD-SD and SE-SE should be greater than 10 mm.
- Wheel Guard Requirement: The value of "A" shall be more than 5 mm at a line 30° forward and 50° rearward from centre vertical axis of the wheel.

CONCLUSION
WHEEL ARCH CLEARENCE IS NOT UPTO THE REQUIREMENTS OF EUROPEAN NORMS FOR SC, SD, SE.
