Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
AIM: To Calculate the Wheel Arch gap at required points and check whether the car passes the European standard.
.EUROPEAN REGULATIONS:
- The clearance value "L" should be measured at the sections SA-SA, SB-SB, SC-SC, SD-SD and SE-SE and to create a clearance check chart table to validate.
- At all the five sections the value of L should be greater than 10mm to satisfy the European Regulations.
- Wheel guard requirement: The value of "a" should be more than 5mm at line 30deg forward and 50deg rearwards from the central vertical axis of the wheel.

Calculations of wheel Arch area - EUROPEAN REGULATIONS:
so first we create a datum plane on the front face of the wheel then we sketch the angle as per European regulation. after creating a sketch then we create a point on the face edge where the lines intersect. and then calculate the distance between each line and point on the face as shown as follows.

L>10mm ANALYSIS

SB length is 10mm

SA length is 9.948mm

SC length is -0.112mm

SD length is -5.314mm

SE length is 11.56mm
As per the above observation
section clearance length result
SB 10mm PASS
SA 9.948mm FAIL
SC -0.112mm FAIL
SD -5.314mm FAIL
SE 11.56mm FAIL
Conclusion:
From the above results, we can conclude that the given fender does not pass the European standards for wheel arch area.
