Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge

EUROPEAN REGULATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

European regulation requires minimum clearance (L) of 10mm in between fender and tyre profile. At five sections mentioned below.

Lines intersecting the tyre circle and Fender projection are

Section B, Section C, Section D and Section E (in Clockwise direction from left) as shown below.

Section A is taken 90deg to the horizontal.

SECTION A : (90deg from horizontal)

Positive clearance L=10mm

SECTION B : 30deg Forward from SECTION A

Positive clearance L=10mm

SECTION C : 50deg Rearward from SECTION A

Positive clearance but L<10mm

SECTION D: Taken from tyre centre axis to the point on fender projection between section C and section E.

Negative clearance i.e. L<10mm

SECTION E: Taken from tyre centre axis to the point on fender projection in vertical direction at a distance of 150mm

Negative clearance i.e. L<10mm

RESULT: Section C,D and E does not comply with European regulations.
