Fender Design Challenge
FENDER DESIGN
Aim:
To develop the front fender using the given parameters. And also create the mounting points in fender design
Master section:

What is fender:
Fender is the American English term for the part of an automobile, motorcycle or other vehicle body that frames a wheel well (the fender underside). In British English, the fender is called the wing. (This may refer to either the front or rear fenders). the primary purpose of the fender is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other road spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire. Fenders are typically rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surface. And it located over the wheels of the vehicle – two in the front right and left, and two in the rear right and left of your vehicle.

Many people think that bumpers and fenders are the same part of the car. In actuality, the bumper is a plastic component that covers the front and back of your vehicle, while the fender is a metal structure that frames the wheel well
Type:
- Full bumper type fender
- Half bumper type fender
Full bumper type fender:
In early stage of automobile, the full bumper type fender is used the main purpose is to prevent mud, sand, rock, liquid and other road spray to hit the car component. In this type there were full metal frame cover the car type and is the one of the drawbacks of the type

Half bumper type fender:
This half bumper type fender is considered as the evaluation of full bumper type fender. In this bumper there were only one half of the bumper were used for vehicles.
Why we go for this type is mainly for reduce the use of material. When we reduce the weight of the vehicle it automatically increases the speed of car

Mounting area:
There are mainly 5 mounting points in fender. To assemble the fender we mainly use screws, clips, push-on nuts, rivets or combination of these items.
- Drip area
- A pillar area
- Sill area
- Cowl area
- Bumper area
Cowl area:
Sometimes fender is also provided with the cowl area mounting. This mounting is on the top side of fender
Sill area:
Sill area mounting is also an important mounting part. This is basically on the bottom of fender. The mounting part should be created such that the fender is firmly attached to the sill
Body area:
Another mounting is created for the body side of the Fender dismounting is created such that it can be mounted on the body of the car. it’s maybe consisted of one or two bolting holes
A-pillar area:
A pillar mounting depends upon the A-pillar of the car. The mounting can be provided with ribs to strengthen the part. this mountain is critical in design as it has to be mounted on A-pillar properly
Drip area:
Drip area mounting is the important part in the fender. That mounting is attached to the engine component of the car. Fender trip area is mounted by welding nuts and screw to the engine compartment. The minimum distance of 150 mm from the front side 300 mm or less can be kept on the rear side. Total length of the trip area from the top of the Fender should be less than 40 mm this is avoid the spring back during the manufacturing the edge of the mountain should be at least 10 mm away from the any near nearby component in the engine. In a rigid body is provided at the end to increase the strength of the mountain
Drip area:

A-pillar area:
This part was connecting car front a pillar for strong hold and also cover the engine component

Bumper side:

Sill area:

Baffle area:

OUTPUT:

CONCLUSION:
Hence the front fender design was complete. And also, the mounting points are created in the manufacturing standard. This project complete using NX CAD software
