Fender Design Challenge
OBJECTIVE:-
To design the front fender of the car.
FENDER:-
Fender is the American English term for the part of an automobile that frames a wheel. It is the pressed and formed sheet-metal part mounted over the road wheels of an automobile, bicycle, etc., to reduce the splashing of mud, water on the front of a locomotive, streetcar for clearing the track of obstructions.
TYPES OF FENDER:-
- Full bumper type:-

- Half bumper type:-

The half bumper type is used to reduce the weight of the car by limiting the usage of sheet metal in the fender. Full bumper type is mostly used in high-performance cars.
GIVEN MASTER SECTION:-

FENDER MOUNTINGS:-
There are 5 mounting regions on the fender,
- Drip mounting
- Bumper mounting
- A-pillar mounting
- Sill mounting
- Baffle mounting
CLASS-A SURFACE:-

DRIP MOUNTING:-
Drip mounting is an important mounting of the fender. This is mounted with the engine compartment with some fastening techniques. it should be mounted 150mm from the front edge as it does not disturb the headlamp housing.
BUMPER MOUNTING:-

A-PILLAR MOUNTING:-
A-Pillar is the structural pillar that connects the body to the roof. The fender is mounted on the A-Pillar.

SILL MOUNTING:-
The car door sill is a small strip of metal placed at the base of your doors. This metal offers more support protecting the car's frame from sagging. Sill also provides a solid footing allowing you to climb in and out of the vehicle comfortably.

BAFFLE MOUNTING:-
This amount is used to install the baffle. The baffle is a sponge-like material that is mounted above the wheel arch to the fender. The baffle is mounted to reduce the noise and the vibration developed during the run time of the vehicle.
