FENDER DESIGN

INTRODUCTION:

ABOUT FENDER:

A fender is the part of a car that protects and frames its wheels and keeps mud from splashing it. Most modern vehicles have fenders on their front wheels. When you get into a minor car accident, you can call it a "fender bender," and it's possible that your fenders did get slightly dented.Sticky materials, such as mud, may adhere to the smooth outer tire surface, while smooth loose objects, such as stones, can become temporarily embedded in the tread grooves as the tire rolls over the ground. These materials can be ejected from the surface of the tire at high velocity as the tire imparts kinetic energy to the attached objects. For a vehicle moving forward, the top of the tire is rotating upward and forward, and can throw objects into the air at other vehicles or pedestrians in front of the vehicle.

Types of fender

• Full bumber type
• Half bumber type

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS:

MOUNTING OF FENDER:

1. Bumber mount
2. Body mount
3. Sill mount
4. A-Pillar mount
5. Splash cover mount

FENDER DESIGN:

Input given

Drip area:

• It is most important mounting area unit because it is one which is near to engine compartment
• There is an design rule we need to follow properly
• we have to leave space 200-300mm for cowl top,it consists of pf wiper motor and its instrument
• For placing head lamp leave space atleast 150mm at front face
• Embosses are provided in the mounting to strenght them during fastening
• When we try to extrant the sheet there will be some loss of strength so we use dart(rip)to boost strength to drip area.this helps not to be vibrate

Bumber mounting area:

• Here we use to fix plastic bumber to fender with fastner

A-Pillar mounting:

• It is attached with A-pillar thats why it is called as A-pillar design,A-pillar is combain with roof top

Sill mounting area:

• Sill is attached at the bottom of the door door floor support
• We can say it combain both floor and body
• By using fastner to fix sill body
• Here we follow design rule to create sill mounting area

Baffle mounting area:

• Baffle mounting or mudgard
• In this are we going to use plastic push clip instead of fastner
• This baffle mounting is place above the tyre and it is cover with plastic to product engine compartment and for pedestrains safety

By using master section we design fender as per required.It is done by using NX-CAD software.
