Fender Design Challenge
FRONT FENDER DESIGN
Objective: Designing a front fender from the given skin data and the master section provoded with Drip mounting,A-piller, Sill, Bumper, C-mountings and splash mountings.
Front fender:
- Fender is an automobile part. A fender is diffrent than a bumper because it's a metal structure that frames the wheel well of your car, instead of the front or back.
- The fender extends between the front door to the front bumper covering the front wheels of the vehicle.

FRONT FENDER
- When vehicle is moving, tyres pick up stones, mud, sand and other road spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire in all directions and hurt pedestrians.
- Fenderes are bassically present to prevent any injuries to pedestrians.
- Two types of fenders are used:
1.Full bumper type

2.Half bumper type

Objectives to design:
- Fender Drip area mounting
- A-piller mounting area
- Sill mounting area
- Bumper mounting area
- Baffle region

Fender Skin data:

Master section to create drip area:

1. Fender drip area:
- Drip area mounting is a major and critical mounting area located inside the engine compartment.
- The design considerations are same throught all cars follow standard design considerations.
- Drip area designed according to the master section provided.

- Drip area will is either spot welded or in some cases bolted with screws to the bracket placed inside the engine compartment.
- The hood side depth of the drip achived 45.80mm
- Thickness of the fender (t) = 0.75mm
- Holes are provided on the weld surface of Drip area (d)=5mm

- For increasing regidity and strength of the fender drip area "Dart" are provided to the drip section.
Dart: 'Dart' is a feature generally given in sheetmetal part to protect the part to get springback effect.

2. A-piller mounting area:
- Pillers are vertical supports on a vehicle. they are located around all glass on automobile.
- Pillers provide structural intigrity to the vehicle, primarily the roof.
- The "A-piller" holds the windsheeld in place.

3. Sill mounting region:
- Sill mounting region is located at bottom side of fender where the door meets the frame when it closed.

4. Bumper mounting area:
- Bumper is a stracture attached to or integrated with front end of the fender of vehicle.

5. Wheel arch mountings:
- Wheel arch is a semicircular positioned above the wheel of a vehicle attached to the fender.
- This structure clamped to the fender using fasteners.

6. Side marker indicator :
- Car front fender side marker indicator light is placed on fender surface.
