Fender Design
Fender:- Fender is part of any vehicle which prevent the dust, stones, liquid or oil splash to the vehicle and also to the pedestrians and it is mounted on wheel arch area. And it's having major roll to create good vehicle design.
Types of Fender:-
(1) Half bumper type:- In the half bumper type it's having less area and covering less area and, In the below picture we can understand how half bumper type looks like
- And it's depend on OEM what type of fender they require

(2) Full bumper type:- In this type fender cover more area compare to hald bumper type and having extra material and also cover some front area of vehicle. and it has shown in below picture.

Fender mounting points:-
- Drip
- A pillar
- Sill
- Baffle
- Bumper

- These are mountings which get mounted on different positions with the help of fasteners and these all are decided by designers with the help of standards and requirement.
- For design these mountings some of them need to give draft of 7 or more degree because of sheet metal and some of them which are hanging type design need to give support of ribs (dart) for extra support and these ribs also taken according to standards. Now below see different types of mountings with pictures.
(1) Drip area:-
- Drip is that area which get attached to the engine with help of fasteners and as per standards we need to give some clearance of 200mm from front where bumper get mounted and 150mm clearance from back where A pillar get mounted.

(2) A pillar area:-
- A pillar area is that area which get mounted on the side wall or side pillar which is beside of windshield of vehicle and it is also get mounted with help of fasteners.
(3) Sill area:-
- Sill is bottom side area of fender which is get mounted on the lower side of vehicle where door is having and it's also get mounted which help of fasteners.

(4) Baffle area:-
- Baffle is that area which is get mounted on upper of wheel arch area and major it covers the wheel.

(5) Bumper area:-
- Bumper is that mounting area where vehicle bumper region is having, it is connected with vehicle front side area and it is also get mounted by fasteners.

- Below picture we can understand where and how these mountings are used.

- Conclusion:- Learned how to create fender design and types with their mounting area (Drip, A pillar, Sill, Baffle, Bumper) with the help of draft and ribs.
