Fender Design
Aim:-
To design a front fender from the given skin data and the master section provided with Drip, A-pillar, Sill, Bumper, and Baffle Mountings.
Fender:-
A fender is an aesthetic component/part of a car that frames the wheels and also covers the engine compartment from the sides. Fender's purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other particles of the road from entering the engine compartment and also to prevent pedestrians from hitting by these road particles.

Types of Fenders:-
- Full Bumper Type:
Full bumper types of fenders were used in earlier models of vehicles. They contribute to the major increment of the steel weight by just covering the front headlights with respect to the bumper region. The problem associated with this kind of fender is there is a lot of waste of material in the blanking process and every inch of a material is a cost to the industry.
Fig.2: Full Bumper Fender - Half Bumper Type:
Half bumper types of fenders are mainly used for serving the purpose of cost-cutting and reducing enough proportions of the steel which result in a reduction of the weight of the vehicle slightly. They can be economically manufactured, i.e. by slightly increasing the blank size, we can produce two fenders at a time.

Use of Fender:-
- Car fender limits the exposure of your car's body and engine to external elements that are harmful.
- Fender flares are attached to ensure that both the body and engine have minimal contact with corrosive elements
- Car fender provides safety to the driver and the passengers at the time of accidents or collisions. They are manufactured in a way to provide bend during front and side collisions.
- Car fenders are designed to avoid wind resistance and make your car more aerodynamic.
- Car fenders enhance the overall look of your cars.
Mountings of the Fender:-
The front fender has basically five mounting positions with respect to the other components. These are as follows:

Fig.4: Fender with different mounting areas
- Drip Area Mounting:
The drip area is the most important mounting in a fender, it is the point where the fender has to be attached to the engine compartment. The drip area should be designed in such a way that it should have sufficient space for mounting headlamps housing in front and sufficient space for the cowl which carries the wiper equipment at the back of the fender. The length of the drip area depends on the length of the fender.
Fig.5: Drip area mounting - Bumper Mounting:
The front bumper of the car is mounted with the fender at this mounting point. It should have enough strength to hold the bumper steadily.
Fig.6: Bumper Mounting - A-Pillar Mounting:
In this mounting A-pillar of the car is mounted with the fender. The mounting is created by taking the reference from the A-pillar design of the car.
Fig.7: A-Pillar Mounting - Sill Mounting:
Sill mounting is the bottommost mounting position of the fender which mounts the sill with the fender.
Fig.8: Sill Mounting - Baffle Mounting:
These mounting points are created for attaching the baffle which prevents chipping inside the engine compartment.

Conclusion:-
The front fender was designed using the given skin data according to the given master section.
