Introduction:

Fender

  • Fenderis the part of an automobile, motorcycle or other vehicle body that frames a wheel well(the fender underside). Its primary purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other road way. from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire. Fenders are typically rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surface.

  • The main purpose of fender in car is protect the pedestrains and the passenger from stones, mud and other debris that can fly in the air because of the speeding rotating wheels while the car is running.

Fender Types

  • Full bumper type
  • Half bumper type
  1. Full Bumper Type

The full bumper type fender was used in old cars, it covers the full area until the front lighting. But it has a lot of sheet metal material which is unnecessary and increases the weight of the fender. These type fenders are no longer used in the automobiles.

2. Half Bumper Type

This type of bumpers most commonly used now a days. To reduce the weight of fender and wastage of material is reduced by this type.

The drip area was created by following the given master section.

Drip Area Design:

  • The drip area is the most important mounting in a fender which is mounted to the engine compartment.
  • The drip area should be designed in such a way that it should be at least 200mm from rear end of the fender to attach the cowl top part and also 150mm away from the front end of the fender to attach the head lamp housing.

A-Pillar Mounting Design:

  • This mount is designed to mount the fender to the A-Pillar of a car.
  • This mount is designed with reference of A-Pillar of a vehicle for easy mounting.

Bumper Mounting Design:

This mounting Created to mount the fender to the bumper area of vehicle.
