Fender Design
Aim:-
To follow the given Master section to create the Drip Area, sill, bumper, baffle(splash), and A-Pillar mount create your own design according to the Engineering standard that you learned.
Fender:-
Fender is the component which make the whole car by joining the bumper, hood, door, body. The main purpose of fender is to defend the dust, mud from entering into the engine compartment. Fender is also designed in the way to protect the pedestrians too. In the way that when the car tends to move due to the friction grip with the road the tire tends to throw the sand, dust, mud, stones on the road to the pedestrians that may cause injury to them. This can be avoid by the fender which is good in design and function. There are two types of bumper
1) Full Bumper
2) Half Bumper
1) Full Bumper Type:-

This bumper type was used in the olden days. The process of creation of full bumper leads to the lot of wastage as scrap and it also bulk so it reduces the efficiency and the performance of the vehicle.
2) Half Bumper Type:-

This bumper type is the upgraded verion of the full bumper type. This is the modern bumper which generates less scrap compared to the full bumper type and also it is light so it increases the vehicles performance.

Diff Mounting Regions on Fender:-

Componenets Mounting with Fender:-
1) Drip Area,
2) Bumper Mounting,
3) Sill Mounting,
4) A-Pillar,
5) Baffle Mounting.
1) Drip Area:-
- Drip Area is one of the critical area to design in fender because this should be precise and enough space has to be given to install other components.
- This is the place where the fender is mounted with the engine compartment through fasteners.
- There should be Min 200mm clearance has to given from the backside to install Cowel(Wiper Motor) mounting area.
- There should be 150mm clearance has to be given from the frontside to install Headlamp.

2) Bumper Mounting:-
- This is used to join the fender with bumper.

3) Sill Mounting:-
- By this the sill and the fender is joined.

4) A-Pillar:-
- Here the mounting is between the a-pillar and the fender.

5) Baffle Mounting:-
- This to join the baffle with fender.

Conclusion:-
The front fender is designed according to the given master section and Styling Surface as per the OEM Standards.
