Door Arm Rest Week 8 Challenge

Aim:

Creating the door arm rest using class A,B and C surfaces and preparing the draft analysis.

Tools Used:

  • Line
  • Point
  • Edge Fillet
  • Extrapolate
  • Trim
  • Split
  • Draft analysis

Draft Analysis:

  • This analysis is used to ensure that the surface are in 3 deg angle so that the tooling direction can be defined with the axis.
  • Normally the plastic component should have draft of 3 deg and sheetmetal component have 9 deg
  • Draft will help to eject the part from the die withoot any defects as well as easily.

Tooling Axis:

  • This axis represent the tooling direction of the die which meets the draft angle, this axis can be created by intersecting those sides and bisecting the two lines the tooling axis will be created.

Procedure:

  • Create an extract from the class A surface and then offset it to 2.5mm and trim the excess portion that intersect with the surface.

  • Create a class C surface by seeping the boundry from the class A surface.

  • Join the Class A and C surface to trim the Class B surface to form solid surface.

  • Finally check for any boundry surface and if there is no boundry on the surface part is good and finally create close surface to make it solid.
