Design of Shallow Foundation (Isolated Footings)

Aim:

To Design an Isolated Shallow Foundation as per the guidelines provided by IS 456:2000 and draw the Reinforcement details.

Procedure:

• First we need to go through the Data which is given such as the Axial Load, SBC of soil etc.,
• The next step is Proportioning of Footing Dimensions with respect to the SBC of the soil.

• Calculation of Net Soil Pressure as below

• Thickness of the Footing and Checking with respect to Bearing Pressure

• Calculation of Flexural Reinforcement in Footing

• Chech for One Way Shear:

• Check for Two Way Shear

• Details of Reinforcement

Result:

The Isolated Footing has been Designed and checked for Permissible Stresses specified as per IS 456:2000. The Details of Reinforcement are drawn.
